Justice for Breonna Taylor

#BIRTHDAYFORBREONNA – Today would have been Breonna Taylor’s 27th birthday. If there had been video or, if we hadn’t found out about this tragedy two months after the fact, would we have gotten out in the streets the way we have recently? This is one of the most egregious and traumatizing murders-by-police the U.S. has seen and yet the public outcry has been far quieter. Why?

From justiceforbreonna.org, “Breonna Taylor was an award-winning EMT and first responder in Louisville, KY, who loved helping her patients and her community. ‘She was an essential worker. She had to go to work,’ her mother, Tamika Palmer said of her dedication to standing on the frontlines of this pandemic. ‘She didn’t have a problem with that.’ Breonna survived the frontlines of a pandemic that disproportionately kills Black people, only to have her life stolen by police.”

On March 13, 2020, Breonna Taylor was fatally shot by Louisville Metro Police Department officers. Sergeant Jonathan Mattingly, Detective Brett Hankison and Detective Myles Cosgrove entered her apartment in the middle of the night in plainclothes in Louisville, Kentucky, while serving a ‘no-knock warrant.’ They had the wrong house, the wrong person. They fired 20 rounds, hitting her 8 times.

None of them have been arrested or even fired.

PLEASE TAKE ACTION: don’t let justice for Breonna slip through the cracks in the chaos of everything else.

Beyoncé Calls for Fans to Be “Aligned and Focused,” as Solange Demands Justice for Breonna Taylor – I’m including this because white people need to take responsibility for what we consume from Black people. We have to acknowledge and fight for their humanity beyond just taking what they create for our consumption. Would you fight for Beyoncé and Solange? They want you to fight for Breonna Taylor.

Send birthday cards for Breonna to the Kentucky District Attorney and Mayor of Louisville – includes GoFundMe info.

And post about her! Let’s flood the hashtags #birthdayforbreonna #justiceforbre #breonnataylor #justiceforbreonna #sayhername – but like Brittany Packnett Cunningham says, “don’t just post about it. Be about it.” A post is not action. ACT.

Please share.
