Unlikely Hikers creates safer, supportive outdoor community for people underrepresented in outdoors culture: people of color, people of size, queer, trans and gender non-conforming individuals and so on. This is *not* to conflate those experiences, but to share group hiking space at the intersections of these experiences. Unlikely Hikers LOVES its allies, but if you do not fit into this, I recommend checking out meetup.com which has tons of hiking groups for various needs & communities.
It’s finally happening! The D.C. area Unlikely Hikers group hike and meet-up is on the books! Can I tell you how tough it is to confidently choose a trail I’ve never done and then ask a bunch of people I haven’t met yet to hike it with me? Ha! I did a lot of research, but this will be an adventure!
We will be meeting at Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historic Park and doing Sections B & C of the Billy Goat Trail!
Park and meet in picnic area here: http://www.canaltrust.org/pyv/carderock-south-parking-lot/
Group hang-out afterward (2pmish?). Feel free to skip the hike and just come hang out afterward!
Level: Easy to Moderate
Length: about 5-6 miles
Elevation: less than 300 ft. gain
